Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

When you come for your first appoinment there will be a brief consultation to discuss your current health and any stress, aches and pains you may be experiencing. This will help us to tailor the masssage to your individual needs giving you maximum benefit from the treatment.

What do I wear during the massage?

It is easier for us if you wear nothing at all, especially when working on glutes (buttocks) or hips, however some clients prefer to wear underwear during the massage - whatever makes you feel most comfortable. During the massage you will be covered with a towel to retain your modesty, which is removed only to allow access to the area of the body that is being worked on.

Will the massage hurt?

Sometimes the deep tissue and sports massage can be a little uncomfortable in problem areas, however if it is too uncomfortable just ask the therapist to use lighter pressure - we want you to enjoy the massage. If it is your first treatment we usually start with medium pressure, slowly working deeper into your muscles.

How will I feel after the massage?

Most clients report feeling very relaxed and 'light' after the massage. Following a deep tissue or sports massage you may feel a little post massage soreness for a day or two particularly if you have not had a massage for a while. If you are worried about achng afterwards let us know and we will use lighter pressure. Drink plenty of water after the massage to help 'flush out' the toxins.
